Muna – Promise
New track from Los Angeles’ female three-piece Muna. It would be far too easy to start running around, comparing them to Haim. So I’m gonna leave that to you to decide if they’re in fact similar. All I can say is that their sound is edgy, and full of wailing guitars. But at the same time manages to slide in a sense of sparkling upbeat pop freshness. ‘Promise’ is out now.
Nadia Nair – Hardships
New rather unusual track from Swedish singer/songwriter Nadia Nair. ‘Hardships’ is a coming together of experimental styles, sounds all brought together around Nair’s edgy, dark, and hypnotic vocal. Half-Swedish, Half-Malaysian Indian, Nair manages to take these two cultural reference points and build a sound which is both unique and strangely mesmeric. ‘Hardships’ is due for release August 3rd.
RAC – Falling Hard feat. Madi Diaz
RAC seems to be on a bit of a rollercoaster ride of styles, influences, and genres at the moment. Releasing ‘Back of the Car’ a few weeks ago. The track saw the Portlandian create a high energy, almost country-pop inspired record with Nate Henricks featuring. The producer is back with another track and another collaboration. ‘Falling Hard’ is a synth laden, dense and edgy pop track which features the sassy and confident vocals of Madi Diaz. ‘Falling Hard’ is released July 31st.
