With memories of this year’s Glastonbury slowly starting to fade into a haze of mud, and a blur of Kanye West. It’s been revealed that a French Charity have rounded up all the discarded wellies and ponchos and sent them to migrants in Calais.

The initiative is the brainchild of Liz Kelly who works for the festival. The wellies, unused ponchos and some first aid kits have been rounded up and sent to migrants waiting in the migrants camp nicknamed ‘The Jungle’ in Calais. With nearly 500 pairs of discarded wellies from 2014’s festival already being sent.

The wellies which had ended up at the festival’s recycling centre were meticulously cleaned and sized before being sent.

The official Glastonbury site added “The migrants in Calais are living in desperate conditions, and we’re very pleased to be able to help support their basic humanitarian needs.”

The festival has always operated a leave no trace policy and encourages all festival goers to leave nothing behind.

The festival in Somerset which this year marked its 45th year, is spread over 1200 acres, and saw 135,000 people attend. With Florence and the Machine, who replaced Foo Fighters, Kanye West, and The Who all headlining.
